Travel With Like-Minded Travellers Over 50
How To Make Friends While Travelling Solo
Travelling Solo at 50+ is the best way to explore new places and see the world. But I hear you. It takes guts to step out of your comfort zone and venture into something new, and making the first step into the solo travel world can be daunting.
Why Join Small Group Tours
A small group tour does not replace the “solo-me experience”; instead, it enhances your solo travel journey by allowing you to share experiences and bond with fellow travellers. The energy from a group creates positive vibes, fosters lasting connections, and opens up more opportunities for new, exciting adventures.
The aim is to make solo travel easier and more fun by building breaks from solo adventures to adventures shared with a small group of amazing, fun-loving people. Our tours bring solo travellers over 50 together to experience places and cherish the bond with a community of like-minded individuals. Joining a group of like-minded travellers will also help hone your social skills and become more present and connected with your choices and actions. Lastly, it enables you to make lasting connections and new friendships.
As a life coach for women over 50, I’m here to empower you through this process. With more than 30 years of solo adventures worldwide, I’ve experienced the highs and lows of solo travel at different stages and know the pros and cons of solo travel vs group travel.
How To Join Small Group Tours
I design and develop the itinerary and our Tours of Italy for travellers over 50. You will explore Italy’s most beautiful small towns and hidden gems of Italy with a small group of like-minded travellers. You will also meet our local tour guides and the locals. Our groups are intimate, small-suited groups of 6 to 12 guests. And the best part is that you will feel like travelling with friends rather than strangers.
Beautiful Places to explore with like-minded travellers
You will discover the best of Sicily, go on Dolomites hiking trips, explore the beautiful Lake Garda, and visit more of Northern Italy’s off-beat destinations. Some tours, such as the Lake Garda Women’s Retreats or the Dolomites Hiking Tours, are women-only. Some, like all our Sicily Tours, are open to everyone over 50 who is fit and loves to be active. From September 2025, you will be able to explore fantastic Northern Sardinia.
Northern Sardinia Tour 2025
On this 7-day small group tour, you will explore the best places of Northern Sardinia, from the iconic heritage coastal towns of Alghero and Castelsardo to the minor island of Asinara, wine and food tastings in wineries, farms, and agriturismo, and the most ancient fossils and heritage sites of the inland regions of Anglona and Gallura. See the details below.

But you will also explore many small towns and real jewels of Sicily like Cefalù, Noto, and Scicli with a herbs farm experience—San Angelo Muxaro, where we have lunch cooked by a family. Last but not least, we will explore the Eolian islands with Lipari and Vulcano with a walk up to the crater and the famous Ispica Caves with a walk to the canyon.

Western Sicily Tour 2026
The West Coast Of Sicily takes you through iconic landmarks and lesser-known unique places of Western Sicily. You will fully immerse yourself in the Sicilian culture with expert local guides from small hilltop villages to coastline nature reserves and smaller islands of Sicily, Favignana and Levanzo. I’ve created all our Sicily trip itineraries with a local Sicilian Tour Operator. This family-owned tour company takes care of the complete organisation and execution of our Sicily Tour. The Western Sicily Trip is offered as a trip extension to our premium Best Sicily Small Group Tour.

The Venice to Bassano Tour
On this two-day tour, we will explore the beautiful hilly landscape near Venice together. Bassano Del Grappa is known for its heritage city centre, which features Ponte Vecchio and the Grappa Museum. Besides being home to some of the best Grappa distilleries in Italy, its surroundings are peppered with wineries and organic farms. We will indulge in food and wine tastings and explore more heritage towns nearby. Our Bassano small group tour is private for a small group of 4-6 people.

Our 3-day Verona & Lake Garda Retreat is the perfect blend of local explorations of the most scenic Italian lake. On Lake Garda, we go on a boat tour from Lazise to the heritage small towns with castles sprawling along the coastline. We will also go on a walking tour of nearby places like Sirmione. We will have plenty of free time to pamper ourselves in a beautiful spa hotel and with our morning rituals exercise that will add that magic touch to your day. This is a women-only tour.

Traveling alone is incredible, but can also be exhausting. What an excellent way for women to travel in a way that is safe, communal, and takes care of a lot of the minutiae that can make solo travel stressful.

I kind of like the idea of travelling solo but joining groups of like-minded people for tours in between. Of course, Italy is a great destination to experience with other people. Good luck with your tours!

This is such a great idea! I have been traveling solo a couple of times, which I love. But for someone who has never traveled solo before or who wants to try something else – this is such a good opportunity!

Thank you for sharing this fantastic blog! It’s inspiring to see how travel can be a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, especially when it comes to connecting with women over 50. The tips for making friends while traveling are very helpful—especially when exploring beautiful destinations like the West Coast of Sicily or Venice to Bassano del Grappa. Traveling with a small group really allows for meaningful connections and shared experiences, which is something I truly value.
