The Australian Wildlife

February 20, 2012 Rocky Blog by Administrator

Visiting the Australia Zoo

Last year I was blessed to get close to the australian wildlife in many occasions and especially to Australiazoo_beerwah learn much whilst volunteering at the Australian Wildlife Hospital , next to the Australia Zoo. At the end of my wonderful experience as a Wildlife Warrrior I also had the chance of visiting the Australia Zoo , seeing its amazing animals and learning about the many wildlife conservation projects they care for.

The Australia Zoo is probably the most known zoo in Australia because of its founder Steve Irwin along with his legendary commitment and work in the australian wildlife and wildnerness conservation.

After Steve Irwin's death in 2006 the work at the Australia Zoo has been proudly continued by his wife Terri and lately by his 13years old daughter, Bindi, as well as by a growing number of Wildlife Warriors. Almost 600 people,  actively involved in the care of endangered australian animals as well as in the education and support of many local and internationl wildlife conservation projects.
On the australia zoo website you can also learn about Steve Irwin's fascinating story of his life as a great Wildlife Warrior.

Tips for Visiting Uluru

How to prepare your Uluru Trip

Too expensive, too much hype, too crowded, too hot: these common thoughts often  prevent LasseterRoad people from visiting Uluru in first place. But they have also proved to be based upon misconceptions, exaggeration and wrong information.
Having visited Uluru twice, 8 years ago and last year in March, I noticed that my enthusiasm grows every time I visit Uluru and I cannot not exclude going back a third time, in the future ;-) I am pretty sure I will enjoy my Uluru Trip as if it were the first time!

As I keep saying and repeating it on various articles of my Rocky Travel Guide, good planning belongs to any great Australia Trip, where distances and time are vital. Good planning and preparation for the Uluru Trip is definitely a key factor . There are many aspects worth considering for the overall enjoyment and for making the right choice on how to visit Uluru . Here below my tips for visiting Uluru at its best.

Unique Australian Festivals

February 06, 2012 Rocky Blog by Administrator

I have decided to add a "Guest Blogger section " to the Australia Rocky Travel Blog. On a regular basis I will introduce international travel bloggers who, like me, love to travel Australia independently and want to share with you their thrilling Australian Travel Stories!

Today a Guest Post by : Rami

It is 35 degrees centigrade.  The Christmas day lamb is roasting on the spit over  hot coals.  I Woodford_Festival_2 take another sip of my cold beer.  Christmas in summer? I wouldn't want it any other way .  I love Christmas, the family and the food.  The real fun starts on boxing day for me.  That year I was doing it solo well so I thought.  After a few years the journey may start solo, but you always end up spending it with close friends that you either met on the way or when you get there. 6am I wake up in the Caulfield, a suburb of Melbourne.

The Australian Beaches

Byron Bay Beaches

Byron Bay is regarded as the "ultimate place " among the Australian Beaches . It truly is a special place that ranks high on Byron_Bay_main_beach all  travellers' list when visiting the Eastern Coast of Australia.

Needles to say, Byron Bay big attraction is represented by its iconic surf beaches
. In the Byron Shire there are over 30km of beaches, of all kinds, from patrolled town beaches to secluded nudist beaches, just a short drive out of town. But Byron Bay is more than just pretty surf beaches . it is also home to a fascinating natural conservation area that has no like it.

The highlight of Byron Bay , next to its beautiful lovely sandy beaches, is Cape Byron , sticking out into the Pacific Ocean forming the most easterly point of the australian mainland and offering dramatic views over the headland and the ocean.

Exploring the East Kimberley

January 23, 2012 Rocky Blog by Administrator

A Sunset Cruise on Lake Argyle

Last year in May I finally could visit the East Kimberley Region in North Western Australia .
I LakeArgyle-aerial_view had been longing for years to make a trip to this pristine wildnerss area of Australia. 5 days spent in the East Kimberley region, exploring by air and land the Purnululu National Park, Kununurra and its surrounds.
From the scenic flight over the Bungle Bungles Ranges I could experience a stunning view of Lake Argyle , with its beautiful geological formations and esmerald green waters.

Can you see the small islands scattered on the lake? The myriad of islands were actually hills that  formed when Lake Argyle in 1970 was filled with water,  to create the second largest freshwarter reservoir of Australia.
