WHAT TO EXPECT FROM OUR SICILY SMALL GROUP TOURS
All Sicily Guests Testimonials 2019 - 2025
This tour exceeded my expectations - 10 out of 10 from visiting temples, museums, convents, many churches, the beautiful flower festival in Noto, the bakery with the wood burning oven in Sant’Angelo Muxaro to food tastings, the Herb Nursery in Scicli, seeing all the Roman mosaics at Roman Villa del Casale, the Canyon walk. The experience of this tour will be one I will never forget, nor the wonderful women I met! Michela and Loredana took great care of us from start to finish and were extremely helpful in getting a few of us on to our next destination. I believe the tour was good value for money. I never expected to see so much in 10 days!

My trip to Sicily with Rocky Travel was by far the best trip I’ve been on as a solo traveler! This trip did not disappoint. Michela, the trip organizer did a fantastic job picking the interesting places to go and making sure we were all comfortable and satisfied. Loredana, our tour guide was very passionate and knowledgeable about everywhere we visited. She went over and above to help make our trip memorable. My thanks to them both for taking such good care of our well being. I recommend for anyone who likes a small intimate group of like minded people to seek out Michela at Rocky Travel and plan your trip to Sicily!

The tour takes you on a wonderful journey through Sicily. And the whole experience has been incredible. There was a fair amount of walking, for me it was achievable and I think for most over 50 years old would be achievable. You don't have to do all walks, there are good options available. The food was out of this world, always served with wine. We also tasted some of the gorgeous Sicilian wines. A lot of the meals were included, which was great value. This tour is for a small number which is what I love, in a comfortable bus. We had a great driver, a great tour guide, and I would give this tour a ten out of ten. I highly recommend it to anyone, any lady who wants to experience the flavours of Sicily and its amazing sights.

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Sicily. Travelling with Rocky Travel was so easy and well-organized. Michela and our local guide Angela always ensured we had enough time to see everything while bonding with other women travelling in the group. The accommodations were well chosen and often located where walking into town during our free time was easy. While in Sicily in May 2023, we had to deal with bad weather, cancel some of our excursions, and replace them with new tours. This was done without any downtime and with options that exceeded my expectations. My experience with Rocky Travel in Sicily was super good, and I highly recommend any tours organized by Rocky Travel.

My overall impression of the Best of Sicily Tour is very positive. The tour offered a wide variety of experiences, ranging from treks to cultural heritage sites, towns, and countryside, as well as food tastings, stunning views, and shopping opportunities. And I've learnt a lot! Moreover, it was a good season to go there, with a good blend of temperatures and enough sunshine without it being too hot. The quality of the tour was generally very high, as were most of the hotels. What I particularly enjoyed was Taormina (getting the first taste of the island) and the treks, both Vulcano and Cave d’Ispica, with the lovely scenery and the birdsong and flowering plants. The lunch at the cottage was delicious. I also very much enjoyed Monreale, with its fantastic cathedral and mosaics, the visit to Sant'Angelo Muxaro, including the bakery, the olive oil tasting (with barn swallows nesting), and the family lunch. The first dinner at the hotel in the countryside was delicious, and it was nice to swim in the pool. The Roman mosaics in Villa del Casale were awe-inspiring! I highly recommend this small-group tour of Sicily, especially for those who love walking.

The Rocky Travel Best of Sicily Tour, this spring, more than lived up to the promise of its name. Our small group visited major cities and towns such as Palermo, Syracusa, and Taormina. Unusual and beautiful places in nature were important destinations as well, including treks on Sicily’s iconic Mt Etna and through other dramatic landscapes. World-famous and less well-known, but fascinating, archaeological ruins and other sites also were part of our wonderful trip, including the Greek temples in Agrigento and the fascinating Ispica Cave with its ancient necropolis and dwellings carved into the hillside. And, one thing I liked was that Rocky Travel made sure we had authentic experiences. Two that stand out are the Palermo “street food” tour, led by a local guide, Raffaella. We tasted delicious and authentic Sicilian tidbits, got to relax around a special set-up table, and we even met the gracious cooks who made those treats. The second was the lunch prepared by a family in a lovely, very un-touristy hilltop village, Sant’Angelo Muxaro. Among my most favourite memories are those from the beautifully situated seaside city of Syracusa, with its rich Greek and Roman history, culture and archaeological sites and its numerous medieval and baroque architectural treasures. Amazingly, you can see all these different cultures on one place: the baroque Cathedral in Syracusa’s historic center, which incorporates Doric columns from a 5thc BC Greek temple. The Cathedral and the other stunning architecture in the surrounding square are especially magical when lit up at night. I’ll always remember this scene and many more from the tour. I’d recommend Rocky Travel to anyone who likes active travel with small groups for seniors and who is interested in really getting to know Sicily and all its cultural, historic and natural aspects. Michela, our organizer, Alessandro, our Sicily expert guide and our wonderful driver, Sergio were incredibly helpful and informative throughout the trip planning and during the journey.
