How To See Crete with a small group

Crete is an island of contrasts, where rugged landscapes, deep-rooted traditions, and everyday life are closely connected. This small-group journey is designed for travellers who want to experience Crete beyond the surface, combining nature, culture, and local life at a slower, more thoughtful pace. On tour, we explore the island from west to east, from Chania to Rethymno and Heraklion, discovering coastal areas, traditional villages, and some of Crete’s most iconic sites, while also leaving space to enjoy the rhythm of each place. Nature and food are central to the experience, with time spent along the coastline, walking in gorges, and exploring local farms and wineries, where you can connect with the island’s traditions and flavours.

The Crete Itinerary
DAY 1 ⎯ Chania
Arrival in Chania and welcome dinner.
DAY 2 ⎯ Chania
Guided walking tour through Chania’s historic centre with local food experiences. Free time.
DAY 3 ⎯ Farms & West Coast
Visit local honey and olive farms, spend time at one of Crete’s most scenic beaches. Dinner at an organic farm.
DAY 4 ⎯ Gorge Walk & South Crete
Gorge walk or alternative relaxed activities at a beach village. Then transfer to Rethymno.
DAY 5 ⎯ Rethymno & Preveli Beach
Explore Rethymno on a guided tour, visit Preveli Palm Beach, with optional gorge walk or free time.
DAY 6 ⎯ Knossos Palace & Wine Region
Visit Knossos Palace, followed by a winery experience with a cooking demo, and food and wine tastings.
DAY 7 ⎯ Visit of local wineries near Heraklion
Visit mountain villages and a local organic farm experience with lunch. Farewell dinner.
DAY 8 ⎯ Departure from Heraklion or Chania
After breakfast, transfer to Heraklion or Chania airport.

THE MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Bookings are typically confirmed around 6 months before departure. Because we work with small hotels and trusted local partners, early planning is essential. These journeys are best suited to travellers who are comfortable planning 9–12 months ahead.
Joining the waitlist does not commit you to the journey.It gives you early access to full details, pricing, and the best level of support while you consider whether it’s the right fit. Guests who join during the early-bird window also receive additional benefits, including early-bird bonuses and savings on the deposit. You can still join later, but those who plan early usually benefit most.
This is an active journey with daily walking of around 1–3 hours. You’ll walk on a mix of cobblestone streets, steps, and natural paths. A good level of mobility and comfort on varied terrain is important. There is one longer walk (Vulcano crater), which is optional.
Yes! The majority of our guests, about 80% travel solo.You’ll be part of a small group of like-minded travellers, and private rooms are always available.
All core activities are part of the shared experience of the journey. For longer walks an optional activity is offered. Each day also includes free time, from a couple of hours to free evenings for dinner.
No! Flights are not included.
Guidance on flights, timing, and travel planning is provided during the preparation phase, including the group Zoom calls before the journey.
