This small-group journey focuses on a lesser-known side of Sicily: Western Sicily, where nature, coastal landscapes, and local culture come together in a quieter and more relaxed way. We explore the western part of the island, from the Zingaro Nature Reserve and the Egadi Islands to historic towns like Trapani, Erice, and Mazzara del Vallo, with a balance of guided experiences and time to enjoy each place. The journey combines coastal walks, archaeological sites, and island life, with opportunities to connect with local traditions and enjoy regional food of Western Sicily. You can join it on its own, or continue your experience across Sicily for a more in-depth exploration of the island. Some guests choose to combine both journeys to experience Sicily more deeply.

The Western Sicily Itinerary
DAY 1 ⎯ Palermo · Castellamare · Milazzo
Pick up in Palermo. Guided walk of Castellamare del Golfo. Hotel check-in. Welcome Dinner.
DAY 2 ⎯ Scopello · Zingaro Nature Reserve · San Vito Lo Capo
Visit of Scopello. Zingaro nature reserve & coastal walk.* Afternoon Visit of San Vito Lo Capo. Hotel check-in Trapani.
DAY 3 ⎯ Erice · Trapani
Morning Erice guided visit. Pasties tasting + free time. Afternoon Trapani guided walk. Free time for dinner.
DAY 4 ⎯ Egadi Islands Favignana & Levanzo
Egadi Islands day trip: Favignana & Levanzo (ferry, exploration by byke, on foot + free time).
DAY 5 ⎯ Mozia · Marsala
Wine tasting in Marsala. Guided visit of Marsala and a salt flat. Old boat transfer to Mozia and guided visit of the small island. Hotel check-in in Mazzara del Vallo.
DAY 6 ⎯ Mazzara d. Vallo · Selinunte
Guided visit of Selinunte archaeological site. Afternoon guided visit of Mazara del Vallo. Farewell Dinner.
DAY 7 ⎯ Departure
After breakfast transfer to Palermo airport or train station.
* The coastal walk in Zingaro Nature Reserve is highly recommended, we also offer an optional activity to those who prefer not to participate.

Bookings are typically confirmed around 6 months before departure. Because we work with small hotels and trusted local partners, early planning is essential. These journeys are best suited to travellers who are comfortable planning 9–12 months ahead.

This is an moderately active journey with daily walking of around 1-2 hours. You’ll walk on a mix of cobblestone streets, steps, and natural paths. A good level of mobility and comfort on varied terrain is important. There is one longer walk of about 7 km in the Zingaro Nature Reserve.
Yes! The majority of our guests, about 80% travel solo.You’ll be part of a small group of like-minded travellers, and private rooms are always available.
All core activities are part of the shared experience of the journey. For the longer walk in the Zingaro Natrure Reserve an optional activity is offered.
No! Flights are not included.
Guidance on flights, timing, and travel planning is provided during the preparation phase, including the group Zoom calls before the journey.
