A really good day trip from Adelaide is Victor Harbor and Goolwa. A tourist railway called the Cockle Train runs between the 2 towns. You get really nice views of the beach and ocean and if you’re really lucky you might see a whale.

Another great thing to do is to catch the train to the suburb of Port Adelaide. Here you will find more museums (trains, planes and ships!) and you can do a dolphin cruise to see the Port River dolphins, some of the only dolphins in the world to live in an urban environment. There is some great street art here, and plenty of traditional old pubs to relax in.

I wish I had got to read your tips and recommendations when I was in Australia last year. I visited Adelaide and Barossa Valley, but it was a real short trip. I enjoyed it thoroughly, though. Adelaide has a modest spirit. I loved wandering the streets – Rundle Mall and the other places around. I stayed in a suburb called West Beach. The transport of Adelaide is so easy and pleasant. A perfect city for solo travelers. I wish to explore the vineyards and sample the wines of South Australia on my next visit.

I’ve been to the pretty town of Adelaide, a short course at Uni SA, then visiting some places like Cleland Wildlife Park. It’s like to go back to visit adelaide, a city that has many sweet memories. Thank you for sharing Michela !

In reply to Kelly Turpin. the same bus that goes to Stirling, stops at Crafers where there is a bus to Mt Lofty or alternately or vice versa walk Mt Lofty Summit to Waterfall Gully, also visit Brighton Beach to Hallett Cove to Port Noarlunga. With careful planning you don't need a car there is adequate public transport but does need planning as it's not promoted

There is heaps to do in Adelaide! You have covered a lot of it and certainly enough to keep anyone busy for a week! One thing to note is that the tram doesn’t go to Henley Beach. However, it is easy enough to catch a bus from the city directly to Henley Beach, or alternatively catch a train to the Grange train station and walk to Henley along the beach. It is about 2km, it is a lovely walk.

You must have just forgotten to mention the beautiful Adelaide Hills Wine Region – home to some of the classiest cool-climate wines in Australia and only 25 minutes’ drive from the center of the city!

What a great list!! Sorry I wasn’t here to do some of them with you! I would add the Adelaide Zoo, the Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens in the Adelaide Hills, taking a paddle-boat ride on the River Torrens, and the Adelaide Migration Museum – there are so many things when you start looking!
