Australia Pictures to inspire you to travel Down Under
This year I have been to new amazing places in Australia. Today I am sharing 25 amazing pictures of Australia about this special year of my 50th birthday in 2014 travelling alone. I hope these images will inspire you to learn more about these places to visit Australia and plan your trip in the new year.
Australia Pictures – Mornington Peninsula, Victoria
Mornington Peninsula is fabulous region south-east of Melbourne, mostly overlooked by international travellers but really worth visiting. The island is home to wineries, various farms producing fine local produce like honey, cheese, and olives. The rugged southern coastline with Cape Schanck and Flinders has stunning cliffs and rock formations, dunes.

These are some pictures of Cape Schanck with Port Leo Beach and a gorgeous panoramic view of the cliffs from Cape Schanck Lighthouse’s walking trail. To reach these places you can hire a car in Melbourne and drive south-east for one hour. An ideal destination for a day trip.
Pictures of Walhalla, Victoria
On my Melbourne to Sydney road trip, I had the chance to stop in Walhalla. This is one of the most picturesque mountain villages I have seen in Australia. Known for the heritage goldfields railway, a train ride is a must-do. There are interesting heritage walks, hiking trails. You can also visit the long tunnel gold mine and the museum to learn more about Walhalla’s gold mining heritage.

TheĀ Walhalla Bandstand is a historical timber structure with an octagonal shape built-in 1896 to become an important meeting place for music and recreational activities. It’s beautiful, very well-preserved and one of the oldest rotundas in Victoria.
You can visit Walhalla from Melbourne as a day trip (3-hours drive one way) or on an extended coastal drive from Melbourne to Sydney. (3-4 day trip).
Pictures of Buchan Caves in the East Gippsland
On my road trip along the South East Coast of Australia, I stopped at Buchan, a small village in the East Gippsland region. This is not a place many people know about it, and it is, in fact, not really marketed to international travellers.
The main attraction is the Buchan Caves, the reason why people visit this place. There are also various walking trails in the forest starting from the visitor centre, and the place is surrounded by beautiful hillsāa great place to relax.

Pictures of the South East Coast of Australia
The South East Coast of Australia is one of my favourite drives. Although it is not really a short drive, over 1000km from Melbourne to Sydney, it is one coastal drive with the most diverse natural heritage. I have been travelling several times by bus and by car and lately from Melbourne to Sydney. It has been a pleasure to visit old places I had been to before and discover new ones.
This is Short Point in Merimbula, with its beautiful red cliffs, one of the best places for shooting pictures. Merimbula is a fascinating place, with so many things to do. Very relaxing and active at the same time. Many Aussies come to Merimbula from all over the country to spend their Australian holidays.

This is Narooma and its twofold location, a very peaceful side and safe beaches and the rough coastline with cliffs, blow-holes and lookouts.

Tathra is a small village with a beautiful rugged coastline and magnificent vantage points over the cliffs. Its picturesque wharf is worth a visit. Enjoy the ocean breeze and sit in the beautifully decorated cafe with a great offering of delicious coffee and organic food. Batesman Bay is a classic destination, with its many beaches and stunning sunsets. The same for Bermagui with its blue pool, heaven for swimmers.
Amazing Pictures of the Kimberley Australia
From the calming natural landscape of the South East Coast Australia to the dusty and challenging Australian Outback. We are now in Kimberley, Australia. I have been on a 10-day Outback Adventure Tour in August, and it was amazing.

The Kimberley Region is one of the most ancient Outback regions in Australia and probably the most challenging. From driving the Gibb River Road to crossing rivers and camping in the middle of nowhere, this area is known for its Outback wildlife, abundant native birdlife, unique vegetation (Boab trees), lush gorges and waterfalls.
Pictures of North-Western Australia Broome
North-Western Australia is a special area of Western Australia, not only because of the Kimberley but also for its famous beaches. Broome is the main coastal attraction, a tropical destination worth visiting between April and October.

I had been in 2008 for a few days in February and thought how crazy I was to be there in the summer months…with sticky hot weather, I couldn’t’ move around nor sleep.
This time in August, the weather couldn’t have been better, warm up to 30-33°C in the day and cool nights. I was lucky enough to witness the staircase to the moon…(no images, sorry) and enjoy its beautiful Cable Beach. Here are a few pictures of Broome, and check out more about Broome and Cable Beach photos.
